Knights of Ukraine
Ukrainian Knightly Tradition
The Ukrainian knightly tradition has a centuries-old history, the origins of which are linked to Prince Sviatoslav the Brave, a legendary ruler of Kyivan Rus.
The further formation of knighthood took place during the Cossack era, with Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny as its iconic figure.
The proclamation of Ukraine’s independence in 1991 gave new impetus to the knightly tradition, which took on practical significance with the onset of the renewed war with the Russian Federation (in 2014 and 2022). The revival of the Ukrainian knightly tradition is the result of the struggle of a significant part of society for Ukraine as an integral value, worthy of the highest sacrifice.
The “Knights of Ukraine” project was founded to support
the fighting spirit and unity of those who defend Ukraine.
